Expert Study Russian Regional Capitals: Culture-Based Development

The new urban economy is culture. The research shows development prospects of 20 Russian regional capitals. It analyzes culture development potential, new subjects and cooperation projects, cultural infrastructure and development strategies based on cultural resources.

Thanks to the Vladimir Potanin Foundation, there is a chance to see clearly what’s happening in the space left between industrial structures that are in the process of dying out or transforming and the post-industrial future, which is yet to come. Our research was carried out in twenty very exciting Russian regional capitals. The report shows the role of culture in sociocultural “big transition drama” through details, trends and assessments of the participants.
